The word scala means "ladder, succession, order" in Latin. In this respect, scientific information is focused on the departments of Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture and Interior Architecture that make up the content of E-Scala journal (E/Environment, S/Space, C/City, A/Architecture, L/Landscape, A/Art). It aims to be a ground for production and a tool aiming to transfer the circulation and flow of information to the future.
Journal focuses on original theoretical writings, original research articles, reviews, articles on project/design applications and current discussion texts in the fields of Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture and Interior Architecture. However, studies related to other related fields of science (Sociology, History, Art, Archeology, Anthropology, Ecology, Botany etc.) at the intersection of these fields are also accepted on the condition that they comply with the scope of the journal.
The entire article should be written in “Times New Roman” font, 12 points, 1.5 line spacing and justified, including figures, graphics, photographs and tables, and should not exceed 18 pages.
A4 paper size should be used as the page structure and 3 cm margins should be left from the top and left, 2.5 cm margins should be left from the bottom and right. Page and line numbers should be added to the article text. The article language should be Turkish or English.
Cover Page: It should include the article title (in the article language), the full names of the authors (without titles) and the institutions they work for, and all contact information of the responsible author (full address, e-mail and telephone and fax numbers). The article title (should be in the middle of the page) should be written in lower case letters with the first letters capitalized and in bold. Author names should be written in lower case letters, and surnames in upper case letters (in the middle of the page) in bold. Author institutions should be written in lower case letters with the first letters capitalized.
Abstract page: The article title, abstract (minimum 100, maximum 250 words) and keywords (3-6) should be given in the language of the article. The same information should be given in the other language (English if the article language is Turkish or vice versa). The abstract should briefly include the rationale, objectives, method, findings and recommendations of the research.
Main text: The main text of the article consists of; Introduction; Material and Method; Findings (and Discussion); (Discussion and) Conclusion; References sections. All main section headings should be written in capital letters and bold, and only the first letter of the first word in subheadings should be written in capital letters and bold. Headings and paragraph indents should start from 0 cm inside, and there should be space between paragraphs. Figures and tables should be placed in appropriate places in the article by giving the figure and table numbers, table titles should be given at the top of the table and figure titles should be given below the figure. Figure and table titles should be as short and explanatory as possible. If the figure is a picture, it should be high resolution, and if it is a graphic, it should be arranged in a way that is easy to understand. Only horizontal lines should be used in tables. If the local names of the living species or species in question are used, their scientific names should be stated in the text where they are first mentioned. The International Systems of Units (SI) should be used for units and decimal expressions should be indicated with a dot (.) (for example, %45.7 or 0.221).
References: All sources cited in the article should be listed alphabetically in the References section. Likewise, all works in the References section should be cited in the text. References should be given in the text according to the author's surname and the date of publication (for example: Kray and Fisher 2008; Yılmaz et al. 2005; Zigler 1983a and 1983b). If the citation is to be used in a sentence, only the year should be included in parentheses (for example: ‘Steffenrem et al. (2007) Picea abies wood properties …’).

Authors' Ethical Responsibilities
Authors;
a) The submitted article is the original work of the author(s);
b) All authors have individually participated in this work and take all responsibility for this work;
c) All authors have seen and approved the final version of the submitted article;
d) The article has not been published elsewhere or has not been submitted for publication;
e) The written and visual materials in the article do not violate the Copyrights of other persons;
f) They accept and undertake to transfer their financial rights on the submitted article, especially all open usage rights including processing, reproduction, representation, printing, publication, distribution and transmission via the Internet to E-Scala Journal.
Editors' Ethical Duties and Responsibilities
Editors;
a) Managing processes aimed at ensuring the development of the journal and improving its quality,
b) Continuing business processes without compromising on intellectual property rights and ethical standards by adopting the principles of openness and transparency,
c) Taking all feedback into account and providing explanatory and informative feedback,
d) Determining referees in accordance with the subject of the study,
e) Monitoring whether there is a conflict of interest between authors and referees,
f) Preventing rude and unscientific evaluations,
g) Ensuring that the referee pool is dynamically updated.
h) Responsible for implementing the "Blind Refereeing and Evaluation Process" policies included in the journal's publication policies. In this context, editors ensure that each study is evaluated fairly, impartially and on time.
ı) Responsible for publishing each article in the journal in accordance with the journal's publication policies and international standards.
i) Responsible for protecting the individual data of authors, referees and readers.
j) In cases where there is no ethical committee approval for the subjects used in the studies and permissions for experimental research, the referee is responsible for rejecting the study.
Ethical Responsibilities of Referees
Evaluation of all studies with "Blind Refereeing" directly affects the quality of the publication. This process provides confidence with the objective and independent evaluation of the publication. The evaluation process of Kırklareli University Faculty of Architecture Journal (E-SCALA) is carried out with the principle of double-blind refereeing. Referees cannot directly contact the authors, evaluations and comments are communicated through the journal management system. During this process, the referee comments on the evaluation forms and full texts are communicated to the author(s) through the editor. In this context, referees who evaluate studies for Kırklareli University Faculty of Architecture Journal (E-SCALA) are expected to have the following ethical responsibilities:
a) They should not accept publications that are not related to their areas of expertise.
b) They should evaluate within the principles of impartiality and confidentiality, and if they think they are faced with a conflict of interest during the evaluation process, they should reject the study and report it to the journal editor.
c) They should destroy the studies they have reviewed after the evaluation process due to the principle of confidentiality. They can use the studies they have reviewed after they are published in the journal.
PUBLICATION POLICY
E-Scala journal is an internationally refereed electronic journal published twice a year by the Faculty of Architecture of Kırklareli University. It uses the infrastructure of Tübitak Ulakbim DergiPark. The publication language is Turkish or English.
